The election of the first black American president of the United states is a great turning point to Africa. As Afrians this is the time for us to come to an understanding of who we are, and what we can do. I wish to thank all the white that voted for Barack Obama, this was a sign of true brotherhood and unity between America whites and blacks. America has showed us a true example of democracy and surely Africa should learn. Obama hails from Kenya a country that led to blood shed during the presidential elections. Thousands of lives where lost in a bid to retain power. I do pray that African leaders will learn from America and hand ove power peacefully. Africa this is the time to make all things new. Am proud that Martin Luther's spirit still lives even when he is dead.
GOD BLESS AFRICA.

ARE YOU SEEKING THE GIFTS OR THE GIVER?

Sometimes we get so caught up in seeking God's presents that we forget all about His presence! God wants every believer to remain in His presence and have a personal relationship with Him just like you would with any other friend. King David knew the importance of seeking God's presence and dwelling with Him. In Psalm 27:4, David writes, One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple. David set himself to seek and require one thing--God's presence. The next two verses (Psalm 27:5-6) tell us the rewards of seeking God: For in the day of trouble He will keep me safe in His dwelling; He will hide me in the shelter of His tabernacle and set me high upon a rock. Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at His tabernacle will I sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the Lord. The rewards of seeking God are awesome; not only will you develop a closer relationship with God, but you will also find true joy and contentment. Psalm 16:11 says, You will fill me with joy in your presence. In other words, joy is found in God's presence--not His presents! Therefore, evaluate your life to make sure that you're seeking God, not just His gifts.
Be willing to let your schedule be altered if knowing God better requires it.
How can you know God better? Read his word, pray, listen for his voice, worship him. Notice that all of these things require time. In fact, improving any relationship with other people or with God requires time. However, far too many people find themselves too busy to spend any time getting to know God better. They've filled their calendar with pursuits of money, wealth, success, and status. However, as Solomon discovers in Ecclesiastes 2:1-11, all of these pursuits are meaningless. Solomon built many houses, vineyards, gardens, and parks; he had many, many slaves and countless pieces of gold and silver, and he was the most prestigious man ever to live in Jerusalem. Indeed, he could buy anything his heart desired. However, Solomon comes to the realization that all of these things are worth nothing in the perspective of eternity: Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun (Ecclesiastes 2:11). Therefore, don't worry about any of these earthly things; instead, seek to know God better (see Matthew 6:25-34).
If all these earthly things are hindering your relationship with God, alter your schedule: get rid of some things so that you can spend time knowing God better.

As the world awaits to celebrate world refugee day, join me to remember the thousands of our brothers and sisters that have been displace in Uganda by the northern war. Uganda is a country that has been hit by a war between the rebel Joseph Kony and the Government for over 20 years now. This war has been characterised by brutal murders, child kidnapping, sexual abuse, massive destruction of social and economic infrastructure in the northern part of the country. We have incidents whereby people's throats have been cut open, their private parts slashed off. The most agonising was one in which the rebels burnt people alive in pots. Today we have over a million people living in displaced camps in Uganda. These people need our moral support as we celebrate this day.

HIV/AIDS AND STIGMA IN UGANDA

Despite numerous attempts by the Ugandan Government to curb the spread of HIV/AIDS, Stigma is still a major problem, both to the patient and the caretaker. According to Mugisha Kemirembe of Mildmay Uganda, Majority of the patients come to the clinic in stage three of disease progression, with multiple opportunistic infections and would usually be forced to the clinic by the relatives. The patients who presented early were characterized with false identity, multiple registrations with different names to avoid being known. They would try to get out of the centre as soon as possible, usually not completing all the necessary care procedures. Some families refuse to take patients to the clinic for fear of being associated with HIV/AIDS themselves.
Some religious faiths in Uganda act as a deterrent to seeking HIV/AIDS care at all or early enough. Despite the massive education in Uganda, still some HIV/AIDS patients decline to go to health care centers because of stigma. There is need for more education and counseling about living positively. Some religious faiths and cultures need to be negated so as to fit into the modern health care systems, especially in the prevention and care of HIV/AIDS.

NB: The Author recognizes the research of Mugisha Kemirembe e-tal which was used as a case study .
Morogoro is a land blessed with rare species. If you happen to be a tourist then plan to visit this place because you will be amazed at how wonderful God's creations are. Personally am Ugandan and i happened to go for a retreat there. I was surprised to find frogs that walk on fours. Forget then ones that hop,hop and hop, jump, jump and jump. In Morogoro these frogs walk. Infact this is the only place in the entire world where such a species of frogs is found. Amazing!!!! Its was an adventerous journey and i plan to revisit sometime. You know what i believe that paradise is on earth.

The president’s advice comes after HIV infection rates are reported to be on the rise mainly because of complacency
He was speaking at the opening of an international meeting of HIV/AIDS implementers meeting that is taking place in Kampala- Uganda.

Museveni advised the youth to take extra care if they are to stay healthy.

This is the time when you can take a risk when investing, because you still have a lifetime to recoup any losses. The longer you invest in an asset, the more you reduce your risk. There's no instant gratification with investing. The two most important rules of investment are: Buy when the markets are low ans sell when they are high: diverisfy your investments between equity, bonds, hedge funds, cash and property. Do not panic when the market you are invested takes a knowck: markets are cyclical. Geographical diversification is also Important. When you invest offshore, you are spreading your investments.

Uganda has been a country greatly credited for the fight against HIV/AIDS. Our president has gone along way to support programs that promote mass education on the related issue. The government too has scored high in areas of democracy and development. Its a country that is growing and moving fast. However recently the government has proposed to scrap press freedom. This means that the press will not have freedom of publications. To me this is a great blander which should not happen. The press has played a great role in the fight for human rights in Uganda by exposing the atrocities committed by security agencies.for example toture room (safe houses), corruption cases among others. Recently reknown journalist Andrew Mwenda was arrested and his offices vandalised by security agencies. This shows how bad the situation is in the country. However Uganda too is not the only country affected. I believe many journalists are affected and this is the time to stand up and fight for press freedom.

Africa should love her Culture

Culture plays a big role in shaping our backgrounds and identities, yet in Africa, our cultures have been abused and supressed by the west-'modern life'. In the past culture played a great role in shaping morals and keeping unity among people. Not only did it instill dicpline among the people but it also strengthened unity and coo-operation amongst other cultures. The influence of the west has however led to the weakening of African culture and of course giving way to bad vices. Take an example of sex before marriage, Same sex marriages, early preganancies e.t.c. All these were abominations in the community. The seed planted by the colonialists has greatly given way to the fast spread of HIV/AIDS, corruption, and hazards caused by environmental degradation simply because people want to survive.

The west culture has got some good and bad things which i do appreciate. Take an example of the office dress code. Majority of Africans have adopted it and its good. But its time for the west to learn from Africa as well. African culture is good and i do encourage those that have not visited Africa to come and find out yourselves. Africa is a beautiful continent. My country Uganda is a cool place to be. We have over 20 tribes with cultural leaders. Culture has contributed alot to the unity in our country. Its high time Africans appreciated their origin and identity.

20 Primary four female students of Buddo Junior school in Uganda were on 14th April 2008 burnt to death by a fire. The incident occured at 9.30 pm when the students had gone to sleep. By the time firefighters reached the school, most of the dormitory had burned down and part of the roof and inner walls had collapsed. The fire destroyed almost all the mattresses and children's clothing and the heat warped the metal bed frames. The bodies were burnt beyond recognition prompting DNA tests to identify the dead. They have been laid to rest last weekend. Parents and the general public have called upon the government to immediately investigate and arrest those behind the brutal incident. MAY THEIR SOULS REST IN PEACE.
